Dan Short

CIPFA Accountant

Dan is a qualified and currently registered CIPFA Accountant, a qualified marketing professional, and a trained Appreciative Inquiry practitioner. He has advanced group facilitation, project management and leadership skills. This combination of skills means his work is analytically rigorous and evidence base and always seeks to discover existing strengths and build on them. Dan very much sees things from the perspective of customers. He recognises that staff are often and organisations biggest asset, and that enabling staff to collaborate closely with customers, the local community, and partner organisations is essential to achieve better outcomes for all stakeholders.

Dan has over 25 years’ experience in consulting and advisory roles. His work has included 18 months as Social Services Transformation lead for the London Borough of Merton and 18 months as the social services workforce advisor to the COVID delivery team in the London Region of NHS England and 3 years at the Care Services Efficiency Delivery programme in the Department of Health. This is where he (along with Rob Griffiths – above) first learned about Appreciative Inquiry. Since then Dan has use Appreciative Inquiry to underpin much of his advisory work with a wide range of social care and health organisations to help them:

  • Develop and deploy strengths based approaches to support people who draw on social services support or are NHS patients.
  • Deliver successful strategy development, organisational development, service improvement, staff development, and value for money programmes.
